Busy Busy

2011-07-21 11.35.43

I’ve been working a lot, but I thought I’d take a few minutes to update. I love working at Target! Except that I spend WAY more money there than I used to ; )

2011-11-04 08.42.37

Korbin has been doing amazing in preschool. His teacher said she thinks he’s ready for kindergarten already! He can identify all of the letters & numbers & can write almost all of them too!

2011-11-13 14.54.12

Jace is growing up so fast. Talking all the time, asking why & singing. She loves watching Dora & Bubble Guppies.

2011-07-23 00.14.20

We found out last month that Jacob will be going to Camp Casey, Korea for a year in May. I have a feeling that this is going to be harder than deployment because the kids are older now & will understand that daddy is gone.

My parents are coming for Christmas since we won’t make it back to AZ until April. I’m so happy that they will be here! I actually finished Christmas shopping about a week ago! I’m waiting to wrap everything until a few days before so the kids don’t get into the presents.

Return to Blogger:: Step 2

Second Step:: Post an actual blog!

So much has happened in the past 14 months, but I’ll just highlight it with the major events. Jacob came home from Iraq in March, Jace turned 1, Korbin turned 4, we bought a house!, we got a puppy, I got a job. Life has been pretty busy between moving, work, preschool & going to the gym. Korbin loves preschool! He goes twice a week for 4 hours each day. Jace has been very clingy lately & doesn’t want to leave my side, even to go see Daddy. She’s getting better with it now that I’m working. It’s incredible how much she’s grown since my last post! Jacob has been working a lot of long days. He leaves at 0430 & doesn’t usually get home until 1830 (6:30pm). Right now he is sitting at the other end of the couch with strep (I’m staying as far away from him as possible so I don’t get it). I just started working at Target on Oct. 27th & I love it. Cashiering is actually pretty fun, I love getting to see what other people are buying & talking to adults instead of tiny children all day! Plus, I get a 10 percent discount! WOO! I have been trying really hard to get to the gym at least 4 times a week, sometimes it doesn’t happen, but I don’t get discouraged. My gym buddy is moving to Missouri in December & it’s going to be even harder to get to the gym when she leaves. She’s a big motivation for me. But I’m trying not to think of her leaving, it makes me sad. Bella, our boxer, is 6 months old now! She is very tall & can stand up to get food off of our tall kitchen table. She is such a hyper puppy! Always playing & jumping like a little deer, then crashing for a 2 hour nap. We are also doggy-sitting 2 basset hounds for our friends who are on vacation before they move to Hawaii. 3 dogs in the house can get very messy, especially with the mud outside. Molly & Trixie are very good, fat, lazy dogs (flazy, as Jessica says). I have learned that basset hounds whine a lot, drink a lot & eat a lot. Our new house is amazing! My favorite part is our 5 piece bathroom with a HUGE walk-in closet! The kids have the entire loft upstairs to use as a playroom. And, **BONUS**, our neighbors are our best friends, the Carters! Well, I think that’s all for today. I don’t think there is a Step 3 coming up, but here’s hoping I can keep this updated a lot better than before. Maybe if I stick a bookmark right at the top center of my browser I’ll remember to blog more often.

Deployment

Jacob is leaving soon & I am trying to keep calm. Mainly for Korbin’s sake. Otherwise I’d be a complete wreck!!! 4 days to go. We are going to be out of our apartment on the 16th, clean it & turn in keys on the 17th. I still need to change my address with the post office! Ugh, so much to do! We’re really making progress on packing the apartment. Monday we’re going to rent a U-Haul to move from one storage unit to a bigger one & move the stuff from the apartment. After everything is out, we’re going to stay in a hotel until my mom gets here to drive back to Arizona with us. I’m so glad I started packing early. We only had about a weeks notice of the official date. Gotta love the Army! I’ll update my other blog with all of the Army info & try to keep this blog about the kids. If you’d like to have access to my private blog, send me a comment & I will add you.

She’s Here!

Jacob & I are thrilled that Jace is finally here! Korbin has been so good with his baby sister. We have been so blessed the past few days with wonderful friends & family. When we found out that my water had broke I called a HUGE favor in to our friends, the Carters, and they took Korbin for us while I was in surgery & even took him overnight for his first non-family sleep-over! Korbin loved watching movies & going to the zoo with his best buddy, Dawson. We are so lucky to have friends like them! And, of course, my parents drove up as soon as they could. It has been so great having them here to help. Korbin sure did miss them! Tyler should be flying up for a couple of days next week, if his job will give him the time off.

There is a tiny downside to Jace coming early… it means Jacob leaves earlier than we hoped. Which also means we are going to be even busier these next 2 weeks getting everything ready for Korbin, Jace & me to move back to Arizona.

Serious Lack of Motivation

I’m trying hard to motivate myself to get anything done, and it just isn’t working. I barely have the motivation to finish this blog. Eventually I’ll get back to it, but for now I’m not going to worry about posting my weekly posts.

Hope everyone is well! 21 days until Baby J is here!!!!

Ta-Da Tuesday

This past week I was awesome! :) I need to brag every once in a while!

Accomplished:

  • fixed the sewing machine & sewed more of my blanket (unfortunately it broke again, probably going buy a new one)
  • laundry
  • organized Jacob’s gear!!!! put it in a big Tupperware bin. YAY!!!
  • packed a little more into my AZ box
  • went through my closet & dresser & packed away clothes for AZ (stuff that doesn’t fit because of my belly)
  • emptied my side table drawers
  • packed the stuff that was on top of my dresser
  • Jacob rearranged the living room to fit our new 60” TV :) (good job, babe!)

See… I rocked! This weekend is a 4-day weekend for President’s Day so we are making a trip to storage! I’m running out of room to put boxes.

This week’s to-do list:

  • get Jacob to go through his closet & dresser & pack away clothes that he doesn’t wear often
  • make a few trips to storage
  • organize all the stuff that has ended up in the playpen (it has become my “catch-all” spot)
  • pack away things in the entryway closet
  • organize pile by kitchen
  • pack, pack, pack

I’m running out of things to do besides pack. I’m hoping I’ll become more motivated once there is more room to store things. We’re going to need to get a bigger storage unit, or another smallish one, to keep all of our stuff in!

Munchkin Monday

100_2793Yesterday we took Korbin to see Disney Live Rockin’ Roadshow! He had so much fun watching Mickey & his friends sing & dance on stage. Even Jacob enjoyed himself! After the show we went to Texas Roadhouse with some friends who were also at Disney Live. When we got home we watched a movie & Korbin fell asleep on the floor, fully dressed!

On Saturday Korbin woke up with a fever of 103.4, so we spent the morning in the emergency room. He was diagnosed with bilateral ear infections and given antibiotics. As usual, this did not stop him from playing & running around like nothing was wrong. He is doing a little better today, but now has a cough & still runs a low fever.  Thankfully, I have not caught whatever it is that is going around!

Ta-Da Tuesday

Ok, here is what I have accomplished this past week:

  • cleaned/organized our bedroom
  • sold our bookshelves
  • messed up our bedroom again with all the stuff off the bookshelves :)
  • packed all of our DVDs and video games
  • washed towels (still haven’t put them away)
  • started an “AZ box” (things that aren’t going in storage)
  • packed a little

As you can see, I still have not fixed the sewing machine. It sits there mocking me with its thread strewn about & fabric lazily stacked next to it. I just can’t bring myself to go near it!

This week’s to-do list:

  • contemplate touching the sewing machine
  • re-clean our bedroom
  • pack more
  • clean up Jacob’s gear!!! (it is EVERYWHERE!)
  • do laundry

Maybe I should put this list somewhere other than my blog… like somewhere that I can see it on a regular basis. Hmm… maybe. :)

Munchkin Monday

Finally!

We have been scheduled! Baby J will grace us with her long awaited presence on March 12, 2010!!!!

Andrew, Korbin & Jacob

We helped some friends move into their new house on Saturday. The picture is of Korbin helping Jacob & Andrew get the fireplace started. He’s such a big helper :)

 100_2715

Here are the boys playing in a box. They did this all by themselves, banging on the sides like drummers!

I’m sure every parent loves to show their kid off and I am definitely one of them! Today we picked up Jacob from work & had to wait quite a while. So, to pass the time we colored on a white board, showing off how Korbin can recognize & help spell his name! He’s getting a lot better at recognizing the letters on their own (not just when written in his name). He is a big hit with the Echo Co. soldiers & officers. High fives all around, joking with the guys & generally causing chaos! Just like the big boys!

No post on Sunday :)

Yesterday we went to a wedding & didn’t get home until 9pm. We had a great time dancing, watching Korbin mingle among the adults & seeing friends we haven’t seen in a while. Of course, Korbin was a big hit with all the ladies!

Here is what I should have posted yesterday:

I’m not currently reading anything. I returned The Guardian early for a few reasons. One is that I was unable to renew it online because someone put a hold on it. The other reason is I wasn’t as intrigued by this book as the others by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t made it to the library yet, but hope to this week.

**Bonus points if you know what movie my post title comes from :)

Wordless Wednesday

Brushing Daddy's hair

Ta-Da Tuesday… Fail

Fail #1: It’s Wednesday
Fail #2: My to do list went virtually untouched for the past week
So I am giving myself a big, fat, red
Untitled
However, I did manage to go through Korbin’s toys and now have 2 paper sacks of toys to take to Goodwill.
This week's things to-do (again):
  • clean/organize/pack our bedroom
  • figure out what is wrong with my sewing machine
  • pack anything… I will try for 2 boxes
Hopefully this fail blog will motivate me!

Munchkin Monday

I was hoping to do a Munchkin Monday about Baby J, but we didn’t get to schedule her arrival. So, I will just have to brag a bit about Korbin.
He has a wild imagination! I asked him the other day if he had fun playing with friends and he told me he had fun on the merry-go-round. I asked him what he was talking about and he said “At the carnival!” He is so good at pretending, too.
0125001144a
At my doctor’s appointment yesterday he was pretending to drive a boat using a rolling chair. Then he & Jacob were pretending my boots were puppets! It was so cute!

Next Monday I have another appointment with my doctor where we should schedule Baby J’s arrival!

Dear John

Yesterday I finished reading Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. It wasn't quite what I expected, but still a very good book. I can't wait to see the movie. I'm sure the movie will get some tears out of me! : ) Once again, Nicholas Sparks wrote an unexpected ending, but I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. I definitely recommend this book to anyone.

After finishing Dear John, I started The Guardian (another Nicholas Sparks book). I'm only 2 chapters in, so I'm still not too sure about this one.

Apparently I'm on a Nicholas Sparks kick : ) Next I want to read A Walk to Remember (one of my favorite movies, I didn't even know it was a book!)
