Deployment

Jacob is leaving soon & I am trying to keep calm. Mainly for Korbin’s sake. Otherwise I’d be a complete wreck!!! 4 days to go. We are going to be out of our apartment on the 16th, clean it & turn in keys on the 17th. I still need to change my address with the post office! Ugh, so much to do! We’re really making progress on packing the apartment. Monday we’re going to rent a U-Haul to move from one storage unit to a bigger one & move the stuff from the apartment. After everything is out, we’re going to stay in a hotel until my mom gets here to drive back to Arizona with us. I’m so glad I started packing early. We only had about a weeks notice of the official date. Gotta love the Army! I’ll update my other blog with all of the Army info & try to keep this blog about the kids. If you’d like to have access to my private blog, send me a comment & I will add you.

Ta-Da Tuesday

This past week I was awesome! :) I need to brag every once in a while!

Accomplished:

  • fixed the sewing machine & sewed more of my blanket (unfortunately it broke again, probably going buy a new one)
  • laundry
  • organized Jacob’s gear!!!! put it in a big Tupperware bin. YAY!!!
  • packed a little more into my AZ box
  • went through my closet & dresser & packed away clothes for AZ (stuff that doesn’t fit because of my belly)
  • emptied my side table drawers
  • packed the stuff that was on top of my dresser
  • Jacob rearranged the living room to fit our new 60” TV :) (good job, babe!)

See… I rocked! This weekend is a 4-day weekend for President’s Day so we are making a trip to storage! I’m running out of room to put boxes.

This week’s to-do list:

  • get Jacob to go through his closet & dresser & pack away clothes that he doesn’t wear often
  • make a few trips to storage
  • organize all the stuff that has ended up in the playpen (it has become my “catch-all” spot)
  • pack away things in the entryway closet
  • organize pile by kitchen
  • pack, pack, pack

I’m running out of things to do besides pack. I’m hoping I’ll become more motivated once there is more room to store things. We’re going to need to get a bigger storage unit, or another smallish one, to keep all of our stuff in!

No post on Sunday :)

Yesterday we went to a wedding & didn’t get home until 9pm. We had a great time dancing, watching Korbin mingle among the adults & seeing friends we haven’t seen in a while. Of course, Korbin was a big hit with all the ladies!

Here is what I should have posted yesterday:

I’m not currently reading anything. I returned The Guardian early for a few reasons. One is that I was unable to renew it online because someone put a hold on it. The other reason is I wasn’t as intrigued by this book as the others by Nicholas Sparks. I haven’t made it to the library yet, but hope to this week.

**Bonus points if you know what movie my post title comes from :)

Dear John

Yesterday I finished reading Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. It wasn't quite what I expected, but still a very good book. I can't wait to see the movie. I'm sure the movie will get some tears out of me! : ) Once again, Nicholas Sparks wrote an unexpected ending, but I wouldn't have changed a thing about it. I definitely recommend this book to anyone.

After finishing Dear John, I started The Guardian (another Nicholas Sparks book). I'm only 2 chapters in, so I'm still not too sure about this one.

Apparently I'm on a Nicholas Sparks kick : ) Next I want to read A Walk to Remember (one of my favorite movies, I didn't even know it was a book!)

I've Been Reading...

A few days ago I finished reading The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. I really liked this book. It was interesting enough to keep my attention but not overly romantic (I am not into mushy romance books). The ending had a little twist to the end, which I love about Nicholas Sparks; his writing isn't too obvious. I also enjoyed the military aspect of the book.

Last night I started reading Dear John, also by Nicholas Sparks. I have been warned that I will cry, and probably a lot. So with fair warning I dove in. I'm only a couple of chapters in but I already know I'm going to love this book. I had never heard of this book until I saw the preview for the movie. And I have to finish this book before I go see the movie!

Family Pictures

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was awesome! We had to wake Korbin up to open presents :) He got lots of cool toys but by far his favorite was from Santa... the tool workbench. Jacob got spoiled and my mom bought him a special tree: white with black ornaments. Our family tradition is having biscuits & gravy for breakfast (I always get stuck making them!) Joey & Tyler tried to sleep in but Jacob & I woke them up bright & early! After spending the morning with my mom we went to Jacob's aunt & uncle's house for dinner. It was a long day!
